Dear future holiday guests,

Fareyroux is a remarkable collection of buildings dating from 1620–1650 – so yes, over 400 years old. Not long ago, it stood as a near-collapsed ruin, quietly dozing away after centuries of weather and wear. Bringing it back to life has been an enormous, rewarding challenge, and we’re rather proud of what it has become.

From the photos, you’ll quickly see that we chose to honour the history of the place rather than turn it into a polished modern luxury hotel. Everything is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished, but you’ll still be sleeping beneath ancient beams that have watched a few generations come and go. The spirit of this old Chartreuse lingers in every nook and cranny — exactly as we intended.

So, a small but important note: we never aimed for the classic 5-star standard of a contemporary (and occasionally overly plush) resort. That’s not what Fareyroux is about, and we think that’s part of its charm.

Please take your time with the photos; we genuinely want guests who will fall in love with the place as it is. Honest expectations from the start make for the happiest holidays.
