The lords of Chalup, nobles from the once powerful Périgord region in the 16th and 17th centuries, once fulfilled a dream. In keeping with the style of the time. Out in the countryside, with a magnificent panoramic view from an elevated spur and a distant view of at least 10 or 20 kilometres, they built a Chartreuse, a noble courtyard complex with stately rooms and architectural structures. Construction began in 1620, the chapel was consecrated in 1649, and everything was built according to a uniform plan by a famous architect of the time.

We rent to guests, i.e. families or even very large families, several families who are friends with each other, between 6 and 11 people (if necessary, please contact us; we can also accommodate more people if they get along well and triple rooms instead of double rooms are not a problem). You will have the Chartreuse to yourselves. The owner will only be present sporadically and will not be staying there at the same time. However, you will receive a visit from our caretaker, who takes care of the garden, manages the technology and helps with any problems. Just give him a call and he will be there.
Apart from that, the Chartreuse is in a completely secluded location, apart from a friendly neighbouring family. The view into the distance is breathtaking. The swimming pool, located on the south-west side, forms a separate leisure area with sunbathing areas and appropriate pool furniture.
The main garden unfolds directly in front of the terrace. And is available for your unrestricted use.
You don't have to share the terrace itself with anyone, even though it is really big enough :-)
From Fareyroux, you are 5 kilometres from Saint-Astier with its fantastic weekly market (Thursdays), and Périgueux, a town with Roman roots and exciting medieval and Renaissance architecture, markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a cinema and countless restaurants, and an impressive museum on Roman times by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel, is about 15 kilometres away.
The Ile flows below our site and can be reached in a few minutes by bicycle.
Beautiful and tranquil Perigord towns around Fareyroux round off the offer.
The large and exciting city of Bordeaux, also with Roman roots, is about 120 kilometres away. Incidentally, we have a small two-room apartment there that can be rented separately, allowing you to stay in this magnificent city for 2 or 3 days. A good 50 kilometres further west: the Atlantic Ocean! With the Dune du Pilat, the oyster beds, the charming fishing villages on the coast, endless wide and clean sandy beaches.
